Plant Highlights

Red Buckwheat is native to the Channel Islands and has pink/red flowers that bloom throughout the summer. This attractive buckwheat is compact and mounding with small gray/green leaves and brings welcome color to the landscape in the late summer and fall. Red Buckwheat is versatile and is useful on slopes, in borders, in rock gardens or as an understory plant to larger ntive perennials. Red Buckwheat is very attractive to butterflies so be sure to include it in a butterfly garden. Cut back the dead flowers to encourage more blooms and prune back one third after flowering season to encourage healthy growth the next spring.
