Water Requirements

Water requirements vary widely based on location and soil type. These recommendations are based on an estimates for San Diego County 5-15 miles from the coast.  Coastal locations may take a little less water and hot inand valleys a little more.

Once established, few of our plants will require supplemental water during the wet winter months. During the dry months of the year however, please note the following guidelines:

   Plant should be kept moist
   Supplemental water every 3-8 days
   Supplemental water every 2-3 weeks
   Supplemental water every 3-4 weeks
Naturalize or water every 4 weeks

Newly planted material will take significantly more water than is indicated above. In fact we recommend that all new planting be kept moist with short periods of dryness for the first 4 weeks and then gradually reduce the watering so that in a year to 18 months, the above watering regiment is achieved. See our planting instructions for more information.
