The Mountain Desert Sage is a compact, low-growing plant that provides good color during hotter summer months. The species is common to the high desert areas and prefers well-drained, sandy soil with plenty of sun. It needs little water. The grayish green foliage is contrasted by the marvelous two tone purple and blue flowers. The leaves are very fragrant and the flowers attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.
