Plant Highlights

Louis Edmunds manzanita is an 8 to 10 foot upright evergreen shrub with nice bark and pink flowers. Formerly known as Arctostaphylos stanfordiana ssp. bakeri it is now known as Arctostaphylos bakeri ssp. bakeri. This manzanita has gray foliage and purple, not red, bark. Louis Edmunds is known to be garden tolerant and grows in heavy clay soils or serpentinite, but also tolerates loam or even granite. Adorned with pink flowers in Spring, it's a delight to the hummingbirds and a fabulous addition to any landscape.

Horticultural selection A. bakeri: origin = north coast, selected by Louis Edmunds intro Saratoga Horticultural Foundation 1962.
