Plant Highlights

A dense mounding shrub to 6 feet tall with a slightly wider spread. Violet buds form into medium-blue flowers in early spring, often covering the entire plant. This dense and compact form makes it useful in smaller gardens and it tolerates regular garden watering. Suitable on dry banks and slopes, as a natural hedge or screen. Plant in full sun or light shade. Prune back lightly each fall to keep as neat bush. Attracts bees and butterflies Hardy to 15 degrees F.

'Wheeler Canyon' was selected by Dara Emery in 1981 from a plant found along the road in Wheeler Gorge, Ventura County, California
