Plant Highlights

Giant Needlegrass is a great choice for inland, mountain, and desert regions. A fast-growing, bunching perennial grass, its upright, dense growth habit allows it to reach 1’ to 4’ high and wide. Giant needlegrass is found in the mountains of California and does swimmingly on dry banks, gravelly slopes, and any other rocky, dry area. This native needs full sun but requires minimal water and is able to withstand moderate foot traffic. Giant needlegrass does well when planted with deergrass, sagebrush, annual wildflowers and buckwheats. Formerly known as Achnatherum coronatum.
