Plant Highlights

If you love the beautiful and intriguing flowers of Trichostema lanatum, (Woolly Blue Curls) but are intimidated by it's reputation as difficult to establish, then take a look at the Hybrid Blue Curls. This cross of the Californian Trichotema lanatum and the Mexican Trichostema purpusii retains the extravagant purple flowers with the curling stamens of its Californian parent, but has been found to be more garden friendly and tolerant of garden watering than lanatum . This flowering shrub retains a mounding form reaching 3'-5'high and wide. The dark green foliage is aromatic and the flowers cover a flower spike for a long season from spring to fall and sometimes beyond. The hummingbirds, butterflies and pollinators will crowd around this attractive plant. We recommend it for any flower border, pathways or to brighten up an evergreen perennial garden. Plant in well-draining soil and protect from hard frost.
This hybrid was created by Patrick Worley and introduced by Suncrest Nurseries.
