Plant Highlights

This selection of Epilobium (Zauchschneria) canum is prized for its vivid orange/red flowers that are set off brilliantly by the clean, gray foliage. This variety tolerates a variety of soils from sandy, well draining soils to clay. This bright addition to borders, pathway gardens, rock gardens and banks will provide summer color and becomes a magnet to hummingbirds when in full flower in summer and fall. Expect height and spread between 1' and 2'. It is best to cut Epilobiums back in the winter after flowering to encourage full, clean growth the following spring. Epilobium Bert's Bluff is named for the founder of Las Pilitas Nursery, Bert Wilson.
