Plant Highlights

Meadowrue has great charm and adds a delicate, graceful quality to a woodland garden. The delicate, scalloped foliage unfurls from purplish shoots and tiny flowers are produced atop 2 to 4 foot stalks. Male and female flowers appear on separate plants. The female flowers are clusters of yellow-green pistils; the male flowers have festive tassel-like stamens. The leaves have a pleasant fragrance when crushed. This perennial will turn golden and then go dormant at the end of summer where it can be allowed to go dry. Groups several plants together in the dappled shade of a woodland garden for the best effect.
