Plant Highlights

Brahea armata or "Blue Hesper Palm" is a palm growing in Baja California on the west coast and in Savannah, Georgia on the east coast. It is widely planted as an ornamental. It grows to a height of 30', with a stout trunk, and distinctive bluish leaves that are 3' - 6' wide on petioles that are about 3' long. In nature the leaves are persistent forming a shag around the trunk. The flowers extend beyond the crown to 15' but the flowers themselves are small and become large brown fruits. This palm is very attractive, especially when young.
