Plant Highlights

Island Morning Glory is a twining vine with large pale pink flowers. Calystegia macrostegia is native in rocky areas of chaparral, coastal sage scrub on most of the Channel Islands. In interior gardens we advise providing some afternoon shade, but it takes full sun near the coast. In coastal gardens it is glorious for fence lines or to cover an unsightly wall, but is also an excellent groundcover. It has a long flowering cycle and lush green leaves. It is best trimmed back in winter for a full, lush look the next spring.

Horticultural selection C. macrostegia: origin = cuttings from Anacapa Island; intro University of California, Los Angeles 19__
