Our History

Founded in 2004, Moosa Creek Nursery emerged from a deep-seated passion for California native plants and a heartfelt desire to create a business that could be nurtured from home, surrounded by family and friends. This passion has driven our commitment to sustainable gardening and the promotion of native flora, which play a crucial role in preserving California’s unique ecosystems.

 

Over the years, we have celebrated many milestones and achievements, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our team. Despite these successes, we remain ever-conscious of the journey ahead and the many goals we still strive to accomplish. Our focus is on continuous improvement and growth, ensuring that we can provide the best quality plants and services to our customers while staying true to our mission of environmental stewardship.

Over the years, the nursery has steadily expanded its plant offerings, growing area, staff, and revenue. Key milestones include:

• 2004: Started with 1 employee and 5 species grown 

• 2005: Increased species grown to 35 and 3,800 sqft

• 2007: Began selling to farmers markets and increased species grown to 110

• 2008: Expanded growing area to over 20,000 sq ft and grew 160 species

• 2009: Reached 4 employees and grew 240 species

• 2015: Outgrew original location and moved to a larger facility

• 2019: Grew to 10 employees and grew 280 species

• 2022: Grew to 17 employees 

• 2024: Grew to 23 employees and grew 380 species in an area of more than 100,000 SQFT
