Ceanothus gloriosus 'Anchor Bay' (aka Pt. Reyes Ceanothus) is an evergreen shrub groundcover. This is a very dense low-growing and spreading selection with darker blue flowers than the species. It stays very neat and its long branches will drape nicely over boulders or retaining walls. Its flowers appear like blue cotton balls all along its elegant branches. Despite its north coast origins it has done superbly in our interior garden which gets very hot in summer and well below 20 F in winter. It has fast become our favorite groundcover lilac. It becomes alleopathic over time and will help to keep out weeds.Horticultural selection C. gloriosus: origin = cuttings (19__) Mendocino Co.?; intro Saratoga Horticultural Foundation 1976
