This is a spreading ground-cover manzanita with shiny gray-green leaves. Ideal for coastal gardens especially thriving in the beach sand. It will also tolerate heavier soils. It is fast growing and will tolerate dry shade which is unusual for manzanitas. However it does need pruning to keep it in check. Pacific Mist produces white flowers in late winter followed by berries that are attractive to birds. You'll enjoy this planted over a retaining wall as a groundcover or in a container. Hybrid A. silvicola x ?; origin = volunteer seedling (19 ) in hybrid manzanita area; introduced by Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden 1981.
