This tree is a hybrid between Catalpa bignonioides and Chilopsis linearis. It has long 3-5 inch dark green leaves and from the chilopsis inherited the ability to withstand some dry heat. It is frost hardy once established but we noticed it to struggle its first couple of winters when the temperature dipped below 15F. We love it for its beautiful azalea like pink blossoms and very long flowering season through the spring Summer and fall. It grows deep tap roots so you can plant near a path patio or driveway without ruining the hardscape. Your visitors as well as the hummingbirds and butterflies will love it! It grows to around 25' high and grows fast once established.
