This aromatic sage has showy purple flowers that bloom from spring through the summer providing a beautiful color combination against the gray-white foliage. It is drought tolerant once established and can grow to about 5-6 ft. and about the same width. Purple Sage grows naturally in the coastal ranges from the central coast to Baja but has proven its versatility and hardiness in a wide range of garden situations including our winter cold/summer hot inland garden. Plant in borders along a fence in a sage garden or pollinator garden. Purple sage is important for butterflies bees and song birds. This plant will adapt to clay soils but also thrive in sandy soils can be naturalized after establishment or will take some limited summer water in a garden situation.
