This colorful perennial is a trailing  low-growing shrub with multiple stems arising from the base. As the name suggests the pink-magenta flowers open in the afternoon adding brilliant color to the landscape. However  it goes dormant after flowering so place where it can be hidden by other plants to camouflage its dormant phase. This plant thrives in the poorest soil and is good on slopes.
