Fremontodendron decumbens is an evergreen shrub that is native to California and is endemic to the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. In nature it only grows in metal-rich gabbro soil a red weathered soil of volcanic origin.Dwarf Flannel Bush grows to 3' in height and 6' wide and has yellow-orange flowers in Spring. The most garden tolerant of the flannel bushes. Plant in full sun to part shade in well draining soil. Drought tolerant and frost tender. It is included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants and is a federally listed endangered species.
