This bright  cheery native sunflower can be an annual  biennial  or perennial depending on conditions.It will stay about 1 ft.tall and has orange to orange-red  fragrant flowers from March - July  (longer with water)  Plant in sun to part shade  preferably in sandy soil. It will survive on very little water but also tolerate some regular garden watering . We grow this plant because of its value for butterfly gardens colorful as well as its flowers.
