A desert native with a big presence, Sphaeralcea emoryi brings bold color to hot, dry spaces. It grows naturally across California, the Southwest, and Northwestern Mexico, thriving in sandy soils, open desert, and roadsides where little else survives. Tall and upright, it can reach over six feet with woolly stems and soft gray-green leaves. Come bloom time, clusters of cheerful orange (sometimes lavender) flowers line the stems and keep pollinators busy. A natural fit for water-wise and habitat gardens.
